Day #09 (Index)IX - The HermitWitchy Tarot

Image Description:  This card usually shows a hooded old man with a walking stick and a lantern.
The old man is replaced with a wandering witch in the Witchy Tarot (so, appropriate), and a yew is visible in the foreground.
General Thoughts On The Card:  What I really love about The Hermit is that when you hear the name, you think of someone who won’t leave their house and sits on the internet all day so basically me.  But while The Hermit is introspective and withdrawn, he is still out in the world.  And I don’t know where I picked this idea up from, but I’ve always seen this figure as going inward, learning themselves, and then bringing back what they’ve learned so as to better help others.
And at any rate, it isn’t about closing yourself up in your room, it’s about going out and searching and exploring.  It’s a journey and a quest that The Hermit is on.  And maybe it’s not as obvious as being an Emperor or a Magician, but it’s still an active role.
Deck Specific Thoughts:  So, for me, The Hermit is the card I relate most strongly to being a witch.  I can’t even explain why, to be honest.  I’ve tried and it never comes out right.
BUT THIS CARD REALLY SPEAKS TO THAT SIDE OF ME.  And not just because there’s a witch on it, but sometimes I’m literal and so that helps…
And I love that they kept The Hermit as an older person, because it speaks to the idea that this is a journey that’s never really over.  I BELIEVE THAT, OKAY?
One day I hope I can come back here and elaborate on those feels~
